One murdered, two shot in city

One person was stabbed to death and two others were shot by unknown criminals in separate incidents in the city within a span of 12 hours since 9:30pm on Saturday.Mohammad Ismail, 30, was stabbed to death at West Damalcourt in Kafrul at around 9:30pm on Saturday. Local people said Ismail was found dead near a tubewell half an hour after a gang of hoodlums took him to a nearby place from a shop in the area. Later, police sent the body to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue. Six people were arrested yesterday after a murder case was filed with the Kafrul Police Station. In another incident, Jahirul Huq, 70, a retired director of the health and family affairs department, was injured critically when two youths shot him at his house at Ahmednagar in Mirpur. Jahirul was shot in his right hand and abdomen. His son rushed him to the DMCH at 9:00am yesterday. The two youths came to his house at 8:15am, gave him a piece of paper with two names and mobile numbers on it and asked him to contact them. But Jahirul refused to make any contact, prompting the youths to fire on him, said his son Tawhidul Huq. In a similar style, three criminals shot Abdul Sattar Hawladar, 48, a contractor, at a construction site at Shah Ali Bagh in Mirpur at around 9:00am. Sattar, who received two bullets in his abdomen, was undergoing treatment at the DMCH.
