Four killed, 18 injured in road accidents

At least four people were killed and 18 others injured in separate road accidents in Sylhet and Sirajganj yesterday.Staff Correspondent from Sylhet reports, two people were killed and six others sustained injuries in a road accident on Sylhet-Sunamganj Road yesterday. The accident occurred as a Sylhet bound truck skidded off the road when the driver lost his control over the overloaded vehicle and it fell on a canal near Chechan area at about 8:00am yesterday. Abdul Matin, 38 hailing from village Muradpur of Sunamganj and Abdul Motaleb of Anwarpur under Derai upazila died on the spot while six others sustained serious injuries. The injured were rushed to the Kaitak Health Sub-Centre. Our Correspondent Sirajganj says, two people were killed and 12 others injured, three of them seriously, in a road accident on the Dhaka-Bogra Highway at Chandaikona Bazar in Raiganj of Sirajganj yesterday. Police and witnesses said the accident took place at about 11:00am when a Dhaka bound truck with some passengers collided with a fertiliser laden truck coming from opposite direction. Two people died on the way to hospital. Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. The injured were taken to Raiganj Health Complex and Sirajganj Sadar Hospital in the Sirajganj town.
