10 hurt in JCD factional clash in Rangamati
Feud over funds for party function

At least 10 BNP activists were injured, one of them critically, as two factions clashed at an arbitration meeting, held at Kathaltoli party office Friday night, police and party sources said. Critically injured JCD (Jatyatabadi Chhatra Dal) activist Md. Moazzem was taken to Rangamati General Hospital with head injuries and then shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in the same night as his condition deteriorated. Nine others were treated at Rangamati hospital. Party sources said the two groups had a brawl over share of money during its September 1 founding day celebration. Friday night's arbitration meeting was called by Rangamati district BNP secretary M Zahir Ahmad, its town unit president Shah Alam and secretary Abu Bakkar. At one stage, the rival JCD activists fell upon each other in presence of BNP leaders. Police, called by some of the BNP leaders, brought the situation under control,ĘKotwali thana OC Sirajul Islam told this correspondent yesterday.
