He left behind his four sons and a daughter to mourn his death. He was admitted to the Samarita Hospital on August 4.

Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina paid her homage to the late leader at his residence at Elephant Road. Hasina also offered doa and munajat for salvation of the departed soul.

Hasina was accompanied by AL leaders Abdur Razzak MP, Saber Hossain Chowdhury, Col Shawkat Ali MP, Momtaz Hossain, BM Mojammel Huq, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Mohammad Bachchu Mian, Enamul Huq Shamim.

Abidur Reza was a senior lawyer and an advisor to the Awami Ainjibi Parishad.
