PBCP leader arrested in Satkhira
Our Correspondent, Satkhira
A regional commander of outlawed Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) was arrested on Friday night at Tersi bazaar in Tala upazila of the district. Acting on a tip-off, police nabbed Abu Bakkar, 45, while he was going to a nearby village at about 8:00pm. He was wanted in 12 cases filed with Tala, Dumuria and Paikgacha police stations. Police produced Bakkar before a magistrate's court at Satkhira yesterday, seeking a ten-day remand in connection with the cases. But the hearing on the remand prayer was not held as the documents of the cases are pending with the District Judge's Court for trial. When contacted, officer-in-charge (OC) of Tala Police Station said the PBCP leader was involved in the murder of freedom fighters Alauddin and Nuru Master and Salam of Tala upazila.
