MP Shahidul calls meeting against journos

BNP lawmaker from Jhenidah-3 constituency Shahidul Islam Master has called a meeting against journalists at Moheshpur Poura Chattar at 4:00pm today. Shahidul convened the meeting against the journalists as they published a report against him in some dailies on August 29. In the dailies, it was reported that some of Shahidul's supporters manhandled Dr Emdadul Haq, medical officer of Chaugachha Upazila Health Complex. The Jhenidah based journalists of different dailies held an emergency meeting at Jhenidah Press Club yesterday to protest the filing of a case against 17 local journalists by Shahidul Islam MP on Thursday. In the meeting, the journalists asked the lawmaker to beg pardon for his acts and to withdraw the case immediately. Otherwise, they said a tougher programme would be announced against him. Jessore Press Club in a statement yesterday expressed deep concern at the filing of the case against the journalists.
