Rape case filed against Rab SI

A rape case was filed with a Dhaka court yesterday against a sub-inspector (SI) of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and also his wife as his abettor.The accused are Ujjal of the Ansar Camp Staff Quarters in Mirpur and his wife Arju Begum. Josna Akhter of Bazar Road at First Colony in Mirpur filed the case with the Fifth Special Tribunal for Prevention of Women and Children Repression. After hearing, Judge Mohammad Shamsul Arefin directed the officer-in-charge (OC) of Mirpur Police Station to register the complaint as a regular case. In her complaint, Josna said Ujjal entered her house and raped her on May 31. Ujjal's wife was holding Josna's mouth pressed when the incident took place. Ujjal threatened Josna not to disclose the incident, the complainant added. Josna later went to Mirpur PS to file a case but police refused to register it as a regular case.
