Metropolitan Magistrate AJM Abdullahel Baqui recorded the statement of the complainant and directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to submit a report after an investigation. In her complaint, Dolly mentioned that the three informers appointed by the two policemen threatened Sumon for his active role for observing Bangabandhu's death anniversary on August 16 and 17. They further threatened him not to observe any Awami League programmes, and demanded Tk 10,000 as toll, otherwise he would be tortured to death by police. The complainant also said that around 7:00pm on August 18, the informers called Sumon out of his electronics goods shop at Shahidnagar and threatened him again with death demanding Tk 10,000. When he finally gave them Tk 600, they threatened him to kill that night. Around 1:30am that night, police raided their house at Shahidnagar in Lalbagh area. Sensing police presence, Sumon tried to escape by jumping down from the roof of the house, but fell on a live electric wire when Nirob hit him. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead around 2:00am. Autopsy report showed Sumon was electrocuted, Dolly added. Later when She and Sumon's father went to Lalbagh Police Station to file a case, police forced them to register an unnatural death case instead of a regular one.
