BNP asks AL to return to JS
27th founding anniversary observed

BNP Secretary General and LGRD Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan yesterday urged the main opposition Awami League (AL) to return to parliament and participate in democratic practices, leaving behind undemocratic actions.He said the next general elections will be held in due time and till then the BNP and four-party alliance government will run the country. Presiding over a discussion meeting at Mahanagar Natyamancha to mark the 27th founding anniversary of the BNP, Bhuiyan said if the main opposition failed to turn up in parliament and continue to disregard the democratic practices, it would lose its position in the Jatiya Sangsad in future. Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, chairperson of the BNP, was present in the discussion meeting as an audience member. Bhuiyan said many conspiracies were plotted against the BNP but those could not halt the advancement of the BNP none can stop the forward march of the BNP by bombing and damaging the country's property as people remain with the party. He said since its inception the BNP is getting people's support as the party carries out programmes for welfare of the people. BNP is the most popular, biggest and best party, Bhuiyan said and hoped that the party will again come to power with support of the people. BNP standing committee members M Saifur Rahman, Khandokar Mosharraf Hossain, RA Ghani, Tanvir Ahmed Siddiqi, Khandokar Mahbubuddin Ahmed, Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas and City Mayor Sadeq Hossain Khoka, among others, addressed the meeting. Saifur Rahman said massive progress has been achieved during the BNP rule. But he claimed there are some orphan leaders who campaign abroad against the country. Health Minister Mosharraf Hossain said a deep-rooted conspiracy is going on against the BNP and the nationalist forces will have to build up strong unity to face all conspiracies.
