Nazrul's Death Anniversary observed in Comilla


The 29th death anniversary of our National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was recently observed in Comilla.To mark the occasion, the Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammilon Parishad Comilla arranged a discussion and cultural programme in the evening at the Comilla Shylonari Girls School auditorium recently. The president of the Parishad Professor Shantanu Kaiser presided over the event. Artistes rendered Nazrul songs at the programme.

For his patriotic poems and songs, Nazrul became a source of inspiration to the common people and the freedom fighters during movements against the then British era and later during the Liberation War of Bangladesh.

Speakers at a seminar said that Nazrul was an integral part of Bangladesh in the spheres of literature and culture. Among others, Professor Shanti Ranjan Bhoumik, Nipan Chatterji and Mominul Hoq, Headmaster of the Shylorani Girls School, took part in the discussion. Professor Shantanu Kaiser in his speech said that the poets are a perennial source of inspiration.

The discussion was followed by a cultural show participated by Sani Borua, Anonna Kor, Anamika Dey, Rina Dattu, Litubroto Dey, Guru Das Bhattchariya, Gowri and Gulzar Hossain Ujjal, among others.
