A website manager for MercadoLibre.com said Thursday that the winning bidder, an Argentine whose wasn't identified, beat more than 150 other serious contenders in frenzied, fast-paced bidding.

Juan Martin De la Serna said auctioning drew more than 100,000 visitors.

De la Serna said the current owner, who acquired the car in 2000, wasn't being publicly identified. Maradona, who reportedly owned the car from 1996 until 2000, used to be seen driving it to the training field of his beloved Boca Juniors squad.
