HC bench split over Galib's bail

The High Court (HC) yesterday gave a split verdict on the granting of bail to Ameer of the Ahle Hadith Anodolon Bangladesh Dr Asadullah Al Galib.A two-member division of the HC comprising Justice Abdul Quddus and Justice Rezaul Haque gave the split verdict. Justice Quddus granted bail to Galib while Justice Rezaul opposed it and dismissed the bail prayer. The chief justice will now take up the matter and refer it to a new bench for further hearing. "I have never seen such a difference of opinion between two High Court judges over granting of bail," said Galib's counsel ABM Nurul Islam. Galib was arrested on February 22 and a number of cases were filed against him. He is now in Rajshahi jail.
