Machine gun, SMC, 13 rifles seized in CHT

Army and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) personnel yesterday seized one machine gun, one sub-machine carbine (SMC) and thirteen .303 rifles in Lambuchhari in Naikhangchhari.Acting on a tip off, the army and BDR in a joint drive led by Lt Col Abdul Awal, Bir Pratik seized the firearms, sources said. Mine detecting squad of Alikadam and Ruma Cantonment also took part in the operation. More details of the drive could not be known immediately. Official sources said 21,300 bullets and 32 pistols were seized in the last fourĘdays from this bordering area. Security forces continue with the joint search operation started on Saturday, suspecting huge arms and ammunition are hidden in the hilly area.
