Hridi Huq talks about her dreams and aspirations
Cultural Correspondent
Hridi Huq's life is closely linked to acting. Daughter of theatre activists, Dr Enamul Huq and Lucky Enam, she grew up in an environment that strongly encouraged the performing arts, specifically acting. " I wanted to be an actress since I was a child, as I grew up watching my parents act in TV plays and the stage," she asserts.Hridi has played diverse characters in over 50 TV plays and drama serials, including Road number-9 Bari number-6, Pantho Hey, Chiro-kumar Shobha, Apod and the on going Nil Paharer Gaan, Albatross, Shukhnagor Apartment. She has performed in several stage plays such as Sharama, Golmatha Chokhamatha and Super Glue. Apart from acting, she is writing the script for a drama serial Amader Ananda Bari which will be aired on ntv. She is also a choreographer and costume designer. Hridi is not altogether content with the stage play scene. As she points out, "Theatre in Bangladesh is mostly Dhaka-centric. True there are avenues in other places, however they get very little media coverage. As a result, regional theatre does not have a favourable climate to grow and flourish. Certainly regional theatre is in need of promotion." Hridi did her SSC and HSC from Viqarunnisa Noon School and College and her BBA and MBA from Dhaka University. "My parents were always very supportive, specially my mother. Of course there was a precondition--there would be no compromise with education," she recalls. Asked about how she spends her leisure time, Hridi says, "I am basically a happy-go-lucky kind of person. I take life as it comes." She adds, "I have a few genuine friends. At times, I like solitude, maybe listening to music. In fact, I like cozy home parties where my close friends and I just chat and have fun." Talking about her dreams and aspirations, Hridi states, "Creative satisfaction is my priority. The clock is ticking and I want to make optimum use of every moment that God has given me. I look forward to becoming a good actress and improving my performance through every chance I get."
