Cops pick up sisters of journalist

Police yesterday picked up two sisters of a staff reporter of the daily Inqilab from his Daudkandi residence, as he is absconding in the face of nine criminal cases allegedly filed at the behest of a minister.A K M Salahuddin, also publisher of Weekly Monir, told by phone from his hideout that Homna police raided his house at 1:00pm and arrested his sisters Kamrunnahar Hasina Banu, 35 and Farhana Akter Tunin, 28, without showing any reason. He said nine cases, including extortion, were filed against him at the behest of Agriculture Minister M K Anwar who was annoyed by his reports published in the Inqilab and Weekly Monir.
