A reliable source in the Special Branch said Ashraf Chowdhury alias Hatkata Bulu is listed as criminal no. 80 by the Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP).

Ashraf, who is also listed as a bomber, had his right wrist blown off in an explosion by a bomb that he made himself in 2003.

The central committee in Dhaka announced the new committee on Monday evening.

Former president Saeed Hasan Lovlu and former senior vice president Azizul Hasan Dulu of Sechchhasebak Dal rejected the new committee, accusing lawmaker Ali Asgar Lobi of bringing criminals into BNP politics.

They have also urged Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, central president of Sechchha-sebak Dal, to expel Ashraf from the party immediately and dissolve the new committee.
