Monsoon Poetry Festival at Bishwa Shahittya Kendra


The Bangladesh Writers Foundation (BWF) organised a festival of monsoon poetry and an award giving ceremony to mark its 10th anniversary at the Bishwa Shahitttya Kendra auditorium on July 31. Prominent literary personality National Professor Kabir Choudhury was the chief guest of the event. Eminent poet and journalist Rahat Khan, chief advisor of ATN Bangla and poet Saiful Bari and general secretary of Sammilito Sangskritik Jote Golam Kuddus were the special guests.

Rahat Khan, Moinuddin Kajol, Ali Idris, Saiful Bari, Shamsul Islam Nasir Ahmed, Gazi Rafiq, Aslam Sani, Baitullah Kaderi, Sayeed Ahmed Ali Aziz, Tahmidul Islam, Shahin Reza Noor, Dildar Hossain, Mohammed Shamsul Kabir won awards in different categories such as literature, prose, journalism and film making.

The evening started with a welcoming speech by Rahat Khan. He said, "I feel fortunate to receive this honour. It is wonderful to know that I am still appreciated."

Golam Kuddus, said, "As always, it feels great to win an award. It's not just a statuette but also a recognition of the work one has done."

"Festivals have always played a significant role in the life of Bangladeshis. Our deep-rooted heritage is amply reflected in their architecture, literature, dance, drama, music and painting," concluded National Professor Kabir Choudhury.

The event ended with recitation of poetry on monsoon by Shamsul Islam, Abid Anwar, Nasir Ahmed, Kairul Ahsan Shohag, Rabindro Gope, Sohrab Hossain, Dildar Hossain, Rokhsana Afreen, Badal Choudhury and many more.
