Week-long workshop on Kathak Dance


Speakers at the concluding ceremony of a week long workshop on Kathak Nritya (Kathak Dance) held on July 30 evening said there is no other alternative to hard work, when it comes to dance, as well as any other medium of performing arts. Barnamala Academy, a cultural organisation for children in Satkhira town organised the week-long workshop held at Satkhira Pourashabha auditorium. The concluding ceremony was presided over by the Academy president Sheikh Farooquzzaman David while Satkhira Deputy Commissioner Md Elias was the chief guest. Bangladesh Nritya Shilpi Sangstha's vice president Rawshan Ara Begum, Sadar UNO SM Ashrafuzzaman and trainer Saju Ahmed were present among others. The event was the first of its kind in the district. The workshop was inaugurated on July 24 at the same venue. At least 55 child artistes from Dhaka, Jessore, Khulna and Satkhira took part in the workshop. The chief and special guests distributed the certificates among the participants. The event also featured dance performances by the participants.
