284 killed, 49 raped last month Reports say


At least 284 people were killed across the country last month, said a Bangladesh Human Rights Commission (BHRC) report yesterday.

Of them, 217 were killed in violence while 24 women killed for dowry, said the report based on stories published in different national dailies.

According to a survey conducted by Bangladesh Nari Progoti Sangha, 71 women were killed in last month and of them 49 were the victims of rape.

Bangladesh Society for the Enforcement of Human Rights (BSEHR) in its report said 27 extra-judicial killings were committed by Rab and police last month.

The report said 48 people committed suicide during the period while four people died and 31 received injuries in different bomb blasts in the country.

Bangladesh Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikya Parisad in a press release said there were 47 incidence of violence against the minority people across the country in June.
