Killing of NGO workers condemned

Different political, religious and social organisations have condemned the killing of two non-government organisation (NGO) workers as well as preachers of Christian religion at Boalmari upazila in Faridpur on Thursday night.

Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) President Manzurul Ahsan Khan and General Secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim in a joint statement on Saturday expressed their resentment at the killing of Tapan Kumar Roy and Liplal Marandi.

"The government has totally failed to give security to the minority people," the statement said, adding, "The killing has resulted from mysterious inaction of the administration about the activities of militant groups in the country."

Bangladesh Christian Association said the killings have proved that a group is very active to oppose the freedom of practising religion.

Sammilita Samajik Andolon (united social movement) in a statement said such killing is the result of downslide in the law and order situation in the country.

Human Rights Review Society condemned the killings and demanded exemplary punishment to the murderers.
