Arora Foundation to take care of war hero Arafat's treatment costs

Lt Gen Jagjit Singh Arora Foundation has come forward to pay all the medical expenses for war veteran Arafat Ali Khan Bir Bikram, says a press release.

Six members of the foundation, all freedom fighters, yesterday visited Arafat at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) following a story about his ordeals run by The Daily Star on Saturday.

They enquired about the 76-year-old Liberation War hero and gave Tk 5,000 for his treatment.

The foundation members have told Arafat that they would take care of him till his death.

Arafat expressed his gratitude towards the foundation members -- Convenor Abu Zahid Sentu, members Dr Durga Das Bhattacharya, Musa Sadique, Dr Badruddoza, Ahmed Parvez Shamsuddin and Swapan Sarkar -- for their help.

Meanwhile, Freedom Fighter's Council, a platform of freedom fighters, also announced to help Arafat carry on his treatment.
