What's your take on remake of TV plays?
The TV plays that are being remade are definitely timeless and that's why they are fetching attention from the directors. The new generation might go for these classic plays because of the depth in the stories.

Dedicated practice in order to prepare oneself for a character is very important. An actor must be well versed in the theoretical aspect of acting. He or she must also have a clear idea of acting techniques.

Are you involved in social welfare programmes?
I always try to participate in charity shows. Besides that, I take part in the special programmes that address social issues such as family planning, mass education and awareness for violence against women.

Share an interesting experience while shooting.
On the shooting spot of Padma Nadir Majhi, there was a shot where the protagonist Kuber, played by Raisul Islam Asad was supposed to take his daughter to the doctor on my boat. Asad was supposed to push the boat before hopping on it. So, when the director Gautam Ghosh said "Action", Asad pushed the boat so forcefully that I fell into the water instantly. Everyone got scared thinking I had drowned. The director shouted at the unit people, " Rescue Hakim, where is he?" and everyone panicked. In the chaotic situation nobody noticed that I had swum back to the shore safely.

Something about you, your fans don't know...
I was a first division football player of the team, Dhaka Victoria Club from 1975 to 1977. But I didn't continue because of my acting career.

The best compliment you have received...
Recently one of my fans sent me a message saying, "Your looks didn't change over the years, what's the secret?" That is the best compliment I have received.

What if you were offered to act in a mainstream Bangla movie?
I have received several offers to act in Bangla movies and I said the same thing to each of the directors, "I must concentrate and devote myself totally into films if I want to become an actor. That is not possible as long as I prefer acting on the small screen."
