Police said an armed gang of 10 to 12 members entered the house of Ayub Ali, an official of Bangladesh Bank, at about 3.30am and looted gold, prize bonds of Tk 50,000 and Tk 25,000 in cash.

By breaking the collapsible gate and a door, the gang entered the house and tied the family members with ropes at gunpoint.

In another robbery, an armed gang looted cash money and valuables worth Tk 4 lakh including gold, video player, hi-tech mobile set from the house of a businessman at Talbagh in Savar on Saturday night.

Police and family sources said that seven to eight robbers entered the house of Abu Sakir at about 9:00pm and looted Tk 2,04,000 in cash, 10 tolas of gold ornaments and other valuables.
