Mugger of Tk 9 lakh in Dhanmondi identified

Police have identified one of the four criminals, who mugged Tk 9 lakh from two officials of a private firm, and dispatched two teams outside the capital to arrest him.The four on two motorcycles mugged Lutfur Rahman, accounts officer of Bepco, and his colleague Hafizur Rahman on Road No. 6/A in Dhanmondi on Sunday afternoon. The officials were returning to office by a rickshaw after withdrawing the sum from the Standard Chartered Bank's Dhanmondi branch. Police said they have checked the video footage of the close circuit television installed in the bank and identified one mugger. They have the mugger's criminal records as he came out of jail 15 days ago. "We've sent two teams outside Dhaka to arrest him and seize the looted money," Deputy Commi-ssioner (South) of Dhaka Metro-politan Police Mazharul Hoque told The Daily Star yesterday. He however did not name the mugger.
