The two activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and students of anthropology department of Jahangirnagar University (JU), expelled on June 25 during first year final examination, were allowed to sit in the examination yesterday. The department allowed S M Tahsin Rahman and S N N Rafiul Amin in the examination under special arrangement following an order from the vice chancellor. Tahsin and Rafiul are JCD activists of Meer Musharraf Hossain hall. Earlier, they were barred from taking part in the examination following a departmental decision. The university authorities reportedly influenced by the JCD leaders in a letter on June 2 asked the department to allow the expelled JCD activists in all examinations, including the one they could not attend. They were expelled for copying in the examination on June 25. "They were expelled according to the section 24 of examination code of conduct," said Prof Sayed Ferdous, acting chairman of the department. "Any final decision regarding the issue can only be taken by the syndicate on recommendation of disciplinary committee. The department only can report it to the disciplinary committee recommending action with proper evidence of offence," said Vice Chancellor Prof Khandaker Mustahidur Rahman refuting allegation of JCD influence.
