Amidst glitz and revelry ntv turns two

ntv, one of the leading satellite TV channels is also the newest. In a brief period, ntv has not only created a place for itself among the local audience, it has also attained viewership in United States and Canada through its news, entertainment shows that reflect the Bangalee culture efficiently and TV dramas that imitate life.

ntv started its kaleidoscopic journey on July 3, 2003 and to celebrate its 2nd anniversary, ntv held a cultural programme in the ballroom of Sonargaon Hotel on July 1.

The who's who in our cultural arena were present at the event. The guests were greeted with flowers and gifts. Celebrities shared their impressions of ntv. Most agreed that considering ntv has only been around for two years, its programmes have won the audience over and it tries to maintain a certain standard.

Farah Sharmin hosted the programme. The managing director of ntv, Enayetur Rahman said, "I want to start with expressing my gratitude to the artistes, renowned cultural personalities and the audience, without whom our journey couldn't have been possible. When we started, our major intention was to entertain the audience with programmes like TV dramas, telefilms, feature films, variety shows that resonate our true identity. I consider all the artistes that have been associating with ntv and our audience as members of the 'ntv family' and we urge everyone to help us improve our efforts by sharing with suggestions and ideas."

Chairperson of ntv, Muhammad Mosaddek Ali shared the news that ntv has recently signed a contract that makes it available to viewers in United Kingdom starting from this month.

Head of programmes, Mustafa Kamal Syed said, "I agree with some of the guests who believe that two years is too short a period to evaluate a TV channel but their concern and care for ntv and its popularity level among the audience encourage us all."

The speeches were followed by a cultural show. Renowned artistes Abida Sultana, Rafiqul Alam, Rizia Perveen, Bappa Majumdar, Baby Nazneen and Kanakchampa performed at the event.

The programme was attended by celebrities such as Chashi Nazrul Islam, Shuchanda, Atiqul Haque Chowdhury, Aly Zaker, Ataur Rahman, Faridur Reza Shagor, Sirajul Islam, Runa Laila, Alamgir, Shomi Kaiser, Dr Enamul Haque, Lucky Enam, Shibli Muhammad, Shamim Ara Nipa, Tarin, Ishita, Chayanika Chowdhury, Ilyas Kanchan, Shanta Islam and Rokeya Prachi.
