Del Piero saves Juventus

Striker Alessandro Del Piero's sole goal enabled Italian Serie A champions Juventus FC to beat J-League champions Yokohama Marinos 1-0 in a football friendly match on Wednesday. The sole goal came in the 42nd minute when Del Piero quickly collected a rebound off a left cross by Vanni Pessotto on a Pavel Nedved pass for the decider at the Yokohama stadium. "I didn't want to lose. I'm glad to show a nice game to so many fans here," said Del Piero. It was the opener of the visitors' three-game Asian tour. The Italians, who will receive one million euros (1,230,800 dollars) for each game, will fly to Hong Kong to play against Kitchee Football Team on Saturday before returning to Japan for a game against FC Tokyo on Tuesday.
