Explosives Haul
Charges pressed against Galib, 4 others

Police yesterday submitted another charge-sheet under the Explosive Substances Act accusing Asadullah Al Galib, ameer of the Ahle Hadith Andolon, and four others.

This was the third charge-sheet submitted at different courts against Galib.

The charge-sheet submitted by Khairul Islam, Sub-Inspector (SI) of the Gabtoli Police Station, also accused Abdur Rahman, chief of outlawed Jagrata Muslim Janata Bangladesh; Shafiqullah, a Jamatul Mujahedin operation squad member; and Joynal of Gabtoli upazila and his wife.

According to the prosecution, on a tip-off police raided Joynal's house in Chaksudu village of Gabtoli upazila in Bogra at about 3:00pm on January 16 and recovered a huge cache of explosive materials.

Police arrested Shafiqullah and Joynal's wife but Joynal managed to escape.

In a confessional statement to a magistrate, Shafiqullah admitted his Jamatul Mujahedin connections and involvement in the bomb attack at a programme in Lakshmikola village under Shahjahanpur upazila.

Shafiqullah also named Galib and Abdur Rahman as his leaders.

Earlier, police submitted a charge-sheet in the court accusing Galib and Abdur Rahman for their involvement in the bomb attack at Lakshmikola village. The case is now under the special tribunal.

As soon as the magistrate accepts yesterday's charge-sheet, this case will also be sent to the special tribunal.
