Navy launches tree plantation campaign

Bangladesh Navy has launched a massive tree plantation campaign at all naval bases and establishments in Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Mongla, Kaptai, Cox's Bazar and other naval units in the coastal areas as part of its tree plantation campaign 2005.Chief of the Naval Staff Rear Admiral M Hasan Ali Khan inaugurated the programme by planting a "Arucaria" sapling at the Naval Headquarters compound at Banani yesterday. The navy personnel are expected to plant about 2 lakh fruit-bearing, forest and medicinal saplings like Shal, Mehagini, Korai, Mango, Jackfruit, coconut and Arjun. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Family Welfare Association has also undertaken similar programme at different naval bases.
