Kapali shines in Reds' defeat

Out-of-favour Alok Kapali finally returned to runs with an explosive 86 but BCB Red still lost the three-day trail match by two wickets against BCB Green after two sporting declarations on the final day at the BKSP yesterday.

BCB Green declared their first innings on overnight score of 275-5, 53 runs behind the Reds' first essay, and then the Reds declared their second innings on 185-5 to set a 239-run winning target for their opponents.

After fine contributions from the top order, number ten Abdur Razzak Raj made a quickfire 32-ball 45 to help the Greens reach 240-8 in the 51st over.

Nazimuddin top scored 53 from 83 deliveries while Sakib Al Hasan added 35 off 36 balls.

Earlier skipper Kapali smote six fours and five sixes in his 42-ball 86 and Golam Rahman, the highest run-getter in the National League who has been struggling in the trial matches, hit 63 from 82 balls as the Reds rattled 185-5 in just 30 overs.
