Koizumi fed up with questions on war shrine visits
AFP, Tokyo
Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi indicated Tuesday he was annoyed with persistent questions on whether he will keep visiting a war shrine which neighboring nations call a symbol of militarism. "I will make a judgment appropriately," Koizumi told reporters when asked if he would go this year to the Yasukuni shrine. Pressed by reporters who said he needed to give more than his usual line, Koizumi cut them off tersely. "Let's not discuss that subject. It's always the same," he said. Koizumi has outraged nations invaded by Japan in the past century by visiting the Shinto sanctuary which lists the names of 2.5 million war dead including 14 top war criminals.
