Indian held with pistol


An Indian national was arrested from a village near Benapole and arms and ammunition were seized from him yesterday.

Police said, Nazrul Islam, 49, of Johrigram under Bongaon thana in 24 Parganas, India came to visit his father-in-law's house at Mainka village under Bahadurpur union in Sarsha thana on the day without any valid travel document.

Police arrested him and recovered a one-shooter pistol and one round of bullet from his possession.

Cases were lodged against him with Benapole Port Police Station, police said.
