Tk 41cr budget okayed for JS Secretariat

The Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat Commission yesterday approved a Tk 41.29 crore budget for the secretariat for the next fiscal year.

The Commission at a meeting with Speaker Jamiruddin Sircar in the chair, which was held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, also agreed in principle to provide a personal secretary-cum-computer operator and peon to every lawmaker. But the lawmakers who are holding offices of ministers, whips and committee chairman will not get the facilities.

"We will recruit staffs for the lawmakers after the finance ministry releases the funds," Sircar told reporters after the meeting.

The meeting, boycotted by the members of main opposition Awami League, also discussed security arrangement at the Sangsad Bhaban and its surrounding areas, and financial management of the parliament.

It also approved a revised budget for the outgoing fiscal year.

LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, Chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on ministry of foreign affairs Ziaur Rahman, State Minister for Finance and Planning Anwarul Kabir Talukder were, among others, present.
