2-yr-old accused can't get bail as judge is on official tour

Bail petition for two-year-old Rasul could not be submitted yesterday as judge of the special tribunal went to Dhaka on official work.The bail petition is likely to be submitted on Saturday, said Rasul's father Junaid Chowdhury. Rasul was mentioned as one of the 14 accused in the First Information Report (FIR) filed under Explosive Substances Act with the Khulna Police Station on March 8 last year. The infant was implicated in a bomb attack on police on March 7 last year. Meanwhile, authorities have initiated probe into why the infant was implicated in the bomb attack case. Complainant of the FIR Sub-Inspector Shafiqul Alam said extremists Jashim and Khalil named Rasul and his three brothers among bomb attackers. But Jashim and Khalil, operatives of outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (M-L faction) died in an encounter with police on the night of March 7 last year, at least 12 hours before the FIR was filed at 9:30am on March 8.
