Fashion shows

Textiles and apparels manufacturing industries often arrange fashion show to popularise their products. Fashion show, in recent days, is no more a part of fashion business. As an increasingly popular culture to boys and girls of all ages, from city life to country life, it has a role to play almost in all cultural programmes. The typical 'Cat walk' of the fashion models on fashion show runways is appealing to all, especially to the young even to the school kids.

They are dressed in western style with short skirt, blond hair, raffled shirt, blue jeans or high-heeled shoes. I have seen school kids walking along the stage among the creeping crowd. The flamboyant western clothing style, no doubt, has pervasive influence upon the young mind. Interestingly enough, this fashion business deals more with women's wear and less with men's wear or children's wear. I dare not say that fashion show both in business and in common folk's cultural life-- is a sort of 'male-entertainment'. The clothing, very often, is designed for sexual attraction to display the female curves. Young people, especially women are seen becoming less shy about defying conventions, traditional values, our long cherished cultural heritage and are dressed in revealing outfits, ultra sexy clothes.

Fashion reflects the society of which it is a part and one's cultural identities are reflected in dresses. In modern age, though cultural boundary is neither possible nor desirable, people should be careful about preservation of the culture they belong to.
