BDR chief goes to Agartala today

Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) Major General M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury will go to Agartala via Akhaura this morning to have a courtesy meeting with Indian Border Security Force (BSF) officials at Agartala immigration check post (ICP).

After returning from Agartala, the BDR chief will visit Fakirmura border outpost in Brahmanbaria and Sathchhari outpost in Srimongal. He will exchange views with the BDR officials and give them necessary directives on border management.

The DG will return to the capital in the afternoon.

Our Satkhira correspondent reported that the body of a Bangladeshi national, who was shot dead by the Indian border guards on April 17, was handed over to the BDR yesterday.

The BSF handed over the body of Mustafizur Rahman, 35, to its Bangladesh counterpart after a company commander level flag meeting held at zero point of Bhomra border under Sadar upazila in the afternoon.

Mustafiz, son of Syed Ali of Baliadana village, was gunned down while he was going to his cropland.
