Four accused manpower brokers yet to be held

Police are yet to arrest the four manpower brokers accused in a case filed with the Airport Police Station on charges of sending four people to Dubai with fake passports recently."Despite continued hunt in the city, we could not arrest the four brokers," the officer-in-charge (OC) of the Airport PS told The Daily Star last night. He said they have issued requisition to the local police in Sylhet and Comilla to take action in case the accused four are hiding in their village homes. The police arrested three immigration cops, a security officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (Caab), three brokers and the four fortune seekers. The fortune hunters were sent back to Dhaka from Dubai airport on April 29 as their passports were found doctored with their photographs attached after removing the original ones. The absconding accused are Kadir Ali, Azad Khan, Qaiyum and Jashim Uddin. Caab Security Officer Amzad Hossain, three immigration policemen--Sub-Inspector (SI) Farhad Ali, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ashraful Alam and Constable Motiur Rahman--and three manpower brokers Mokhlesur Rahman, Fazlul Karim and Mokbul Ahmed will be produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, Dhaka today on completion of their one-day remand.
