Mafroza Begum Mili, 11-year old student of class V at PN Government Girls High School and daughter of Mansur Rahman Mollah, an instructor of the Postal Academy, was rescued unconscious from the balcony of their rented house.

Doctors at the Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital declared her dead and told newsmen that she might have been raped as her clothes were ragged and scratch marks were found on her body.

She was at home alone as her father went to the office and mother went out to bring her brother home from a coaching centre.

"There was a scarf around her neck when her mother along with some neighbours rescued her," said Sabbir Ahmed, assistant commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP).

Police mentioned in its inquest report that she might have been raped and sent her body for autopsy.

The victim's father filed a case with the Boalia Police Station last evening suspecting his landlord's son or other boys of the building of the gruesome incident.

The police arrested five persons--the landlord's son Fazle Rabbi Lion, 36, relative Saiduzzaman Minar, 20, and neighbour Fazlur Rahman, his wife Dolna Begum and their son Delwar Hossain Sabuj.
