3 'outlaws' held near Khulna Press Club

Policeon Sunday night arrested four alleged activists of outlawed Purba Bangalar Communist Party (PBCP M-L) from in front of Khulna Press Club.Police identified them as Rabiul Hasan, Rintu Islam, Tuhin and Rafique. According to Khulna thana OC Md. Iqbal, the activists were arrested when they were removing posters against their leader SM Monirul Hasan Bappi from walls of buildings in front of the Press Club. In the posters, Monirul Islam Bappi, secretary of Rupsha thana BNP and Chairman of Srifaltala Union Parishad in Rupsha upazila, was identified as treasurer of south-western regional unit of PBCP's ML faction. In the posters, it was stated that those were printed on behalf of the people of Rupsha upazila, which is a stronghold of the underground organisation. The posters said people of the area demanded arrest of Monirul Islam Bappi and action against notorious 'Insan Bahini' headed by him. When contacted, the Rupsha thana BNP leader and Srifaltala UP Chairman told this correspondent that his (Bappi's) opponents are branding him as an outlaw for playing a courageous role against toll collection and criminal activities in Rupsha upazila.
