Parwar’s claim concocted, says outlaw leader
Fax messages to newspapers, top police official threaten to unmask real godfathers

Shailen Biswas, chief of outlawed New Biplobi Communist Party (NBCP), has refuted the claim made earlier by Khulna city Jamaat-e-Islami Amear Mian Golam Parwar MP that NBCP had given him a death threat through a hand-written letter sent by post.Shailen, the most wanted outlaw in the south western region, refuted the claim in a hand-written letter faxed simultaneously to some local newspaper offices and to the Deputy Commissioner (Hq) of Khulna Metropolitan Police at 7:18 pm on April 30. NBCP has no link with the so-called letter sent to Parwar few days ago, it said. "It is a false story prepared by the Jammat MP against me that I sent a letter by post threatening him with death any time within May 2. He is chasing my innocent brothers with the help of police", Shailen said in his letter sent from fax No 545168 (Code no 0321) in Choumohoni upazila in Noakhali district. Terming the Jamaat leader a 'political blackmailer', Shailen's letter said Mian Golam Parwar was elected a member of parliament from Khulna-5 constituency in the last national election with full support from NBCP headed by its former chief Ranjan Goshai alias Mirnal. Mrinal incurred Parwar's displeasure when NBCP at a secret meeting in 2002 decided to nominate Khan Alamgir Alias Alam, a top leader of Khulna Jubo League and chairman of Gutudia Union Parishad in Dumuria Upazila as candidate for contesting in the next national elections from Khulna 5 constituency (Dumuria-Phultala), said the letter. NBCP founder Mrinal had to flee the country fearing reprisal from the Jamaat MP during the Operation Clean Heart and Operation Spider Web. Accusing the Jamaat leader of having a hand in the murders of Mrinal and Khan Alamgir in India last year, Shailen also said he will not hesitate to surrender to police and disclose names of all godfathers harbouring armed cadres of NBCP. Shailen, wanted in more than 60 criminal cases including several murders, went into hiding in 2003. He is reported to have returned from India after murders of NBCP founder Mrinal and its second-in-command Khan Alamgir. Akbar Ali, Deputy Commissioner (Hq) of Khulna Metropolitan Police, also received a copy of Shailen's faxed letter sent on the night of April 30. The Jamaat MP could not be reached over Phone for his comment on the accusation by the NBCP chief. "We are checking and rechecking authenticity of both the hand-written letters sent by post to the Jamaat leader and to some newspaper offices", said a senior officer of KMP. On Saturday at about noon, Mian Golam Parwar called on Khulna Range DIG Noor Mohammad and Police Commissioner Khan Saeed Hasan to discuss security. Both the police officers assured him to provide necessary security, police sources said.
