Boy loses 3 fingers as stray bomb goes off

Three fingers of a 12-year-old boy were blown off as he touched an abandoned homemade bomb unknowingly while collecting papers from a dustbin at Banani in the city yesterday.

The injured boy Dipu, a street urchin, is undergoing treatment at Orthopaedic Hospital.

His affected fingers needed to be amputated, doctors said.

"When I was collecting torn papers in the dustbin near the Airport Road at about 8:45am, suddenly, something blasted and I found blood coming out profusely from my right palm," Dipu said.
