Over the years, Bengal Foundation has worked effortlessly to uphold traditional Bangalee music. Bengal's latest attempt to bring forth authentic talents in the country is Bengal Bikash, a talent hunt. The preliminary round will be held separately at the six divisional zones and initially the artistes would have to mail in audio tapes comprising five songs. Electronic music instruments cannot be used. Although the usage of tanpura, harmonium, tabla, do-tara and acoustic guitar are allowed, singing without any instrument is preferred. The age of the contestants should range from 18 to 35. The tapes have to be mailed in by July 15 along with two passport size photographs and personal information of the participant to Bengal Foundation, House No. 9B, Road 71, Gulshan 2, Dhaka 1212. Bengal Foundation will announce the names of the selected participants by September 30. The five-day-long final round would take place in Dhaka, where the contestants would have to prove their skills, performing songs by Tagore, Nazrul, Atul Prasad, DL Roy and Rajnikant.
