PM urges doctors to follow professional ethics
New hospital building inaugurated in Pabna

Prime Minister Khaleda Zia yesterday urged the physicians, public representatives, social workers and the media to create health consciousness among the people to help prevent diseases.

Inaugurating the new building of Pabna General Hospital constructed at a cost of Tk 12.36 crore, she said the standard medical system is not enough to ensure sound health for people. Awareness about health guidelines is also necessary to help people get rid of diseases, she pointed out.

The prime minister unveiled the plaque and offered munajat on the occasion.

She urged the physicians, nurses and all concerned to follow the professional ethics in this service-oriented noble profession.

She said her government has been making all out efforts to ensure people's right to medicare.

She underscored the need for reaching health care to the doorsteps of all -- rich and poor in the rural and urban areas -- to help build a healthy, happy and prosperous nation.

Khaleda reiterated her call to both local and foreign entrepreneurs to come forward to set up hospitals of international standard by availing the facilities being offered by her government.

Responding to local demand for setting up a medical college in Pabna, she said the government will consider the matter.
