Our Correspondent, Nilphamari
At least 20 people were injured, five of them critically, as a Rajshahi-bound inter-city train, the Titumir Express, derailed yesterday near Domar Railway Station. The train started for Rajshahi from Chilahati at 2:15pm and arrived at Domar after half an hour. As it resumed its journey, four coaches at the tail-end derailed at the southern end of the station. The driver of the train, Fazlul Haque, said the accident occurred as there are no sleepers and rocks between the rails. The train carrying about 200 passengers escaped a major accident as it was moving only at 30km per hour, he added. Shahida Begum, 40, Rafiqul Islam, 38, Abdul Karim, 37, Amichha Bewa, 62, and Sazir Uddin, 51, were admitted to Domar Upazila Health Complex. The rails on the route have hardly any sleepers or rocks at different points from Chilahati to Parbotipur. All trains plying on these tracks are at high risk of accident any time.
