Japanese grant for construction of community centres in CHT

The Japanese embassy and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed a grant contract of Tk 52 lakh for construction of multi-purpose community centres in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), says a press release.

With this Japanese grant, the UNDP will construct 10 community centres in the CHT, which will be used for different purposes of the CHT community.

Japanese Ambassador Matsushiro Horiguchi and UNDP Resident Coordinator Jorgen Lissner signed the grant contract in the city on Thursday.

The contract was signed under the Japanese grassroots grant assistance for human security project with the UNDP.

The multipurpose community centres will make a significant impact on the efficiency of the traditional leaders as well as on the lives of local people.
