Rakub holds managers' conference

A daylong conference of managers of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (Rakub) was held here on Wednesday aiming to give a thrust to national effort for alleviating poverty by lending to the poor to help them generate self-income.

Rakub Managing Director M Shamsul Alam was present as chief guest while Deputy Managing Director Hafeezul Islam as special guest at the 'Branch Managers Conference-2005'.

The managing director directed all officials concerned to achieve their lending and loan-recovery targets in the remaining three months of the current fiscal year.

"Disburse loan to the poor to enable them to take up income-generating vocations in their respective areas to make the poverty-alleviation programme a success," the Rakub MD told the managers.

The bank operates in the entire northern region for helping development of the farm sector in the mainly agrarian area.

A total of 21 branch managers and zonal audit officers attended the annual conference.
