Harun Howlader alias Khoka has also set a signboard of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal after capturing the jetty's handling workers' union office with the help of police.

The union office had long been under the control of Awami League (AL) leader and Khulna City Corporation Ward Commissioner Marufa Begum, wife of slain AL leader Moslemuddin Khan.

Khoka and his men ousted Marufa and other leaders from the union office in presence of several Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leaders and police.

Marufa, commissioner from ward No. 15 and also president of the union, alleged Khoka had threatened her with death if she opposed his act.

When asked, city unit BNP Secretary Nazrul Islam Manju said he is not aware of the incident.

Additional police were on hand to avert any untoward situation.

Khoka had earlier been absconding to escape arrest, as he was a member of notorious criminal Ershad Shikder's death squad and chargesheeted accused in Moslemuddin murder case. He is also accused of several criminal offences including murders and rape.
