Without naming the US, Nizami said after the fall of Soviet Union, a super power considers Islam as the only barrier in its way to establish absolute supremacy in the world.

He termed the worldwide propaganda campaign against Islam a Zionist-directed strategy to destroy the religion.

Nizami asked the Olamas to be aware of the blueprints prepared by the anti-Islamic 'evil forces' in connivance with 'misguided' Olamas in Bangladesh.

"No overt Islamic party is involved in extremist activities in Bangladesh," he said.

"The Awami League and some of its pocket organisations like Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council are spreading propaganda abroad that there are 58 Islamic extremist organisations. This is a blatant lie as this number often varies even by their supreme leaders."
