Constable Assault
Cops raid MP's flat to look for his son

Police raided the house of BNP lawmaker from Jessore-1 constituency Ali Kadar at NAM flat on Manik Mia Avenue Wednesday night to arrest his son on charges of beating up a traffic constable, but did not find him in the house.

Noman Kadar, the son, and his associates beat up Traffic Constable Abdul Majid on Manik Mia Avenue on Wednesday after he stopped the car of the lawmaker's son for defying the red signal.

Constable Majid suffered severe wounds in the forehead and received three stitches. He is undergoing treatment at Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital.

A team of Tejgaon police raided flat No. 103, House No. 5 Wednesday night after Constable Majid filed a case with Tejgaon Police Station the same night against Noman and six of his accomplices.

"We raided the house of Noman and other places where he may hide but are yet to arrest him," Rezaul Islam, investigation officer of the case, told The Daily Star yesterday.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner SM Mizanur Rahman said he has directed his men to arrest Noman.
