Medical stores demolished
Staff Correspondent
The Estate Department of Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) yesterday demolished several medical stores at the passenger sheds in front of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), including some makeshift slums at Karwan Bazar. A DCC team, led by a magistrate, bulldozed three medical stores in the sheds and makeshift fruit shops on the footpath near the emergency gate of the hospital. Several makeshift slums at Karwan Bazar were also demolished to expand the road, said the DCC officials. Owners of the medical stores alleged that their establishments were demolished illegally as they took the lease of three sheds for 25 years. They also claimed that a large quantity of medicine was damaged during the drive.
